Now think of the involuntary responses in your body as the big, beautiful horse in this photo.
Involuntary responses being, for example; losing your temper. That horse starts bucking.
With a healthy ego, you take a deep breath, assume your confidence in the saddle, and your grip on the reins. You let the horse’s energy run its course and guide it back to safety.
Now, imagine being a rider on that beast who can’t control it.
That’s what’s happening when you can’t control your words and actions. Your ego has lost control of that horse.
You need to grab the reins and build your ability to “self-regulate.” When you do, you will have more choices about your behavior, and you will feel a deeper peace of mind no matter what your circumstances.
