There’s a Best Psychotherapy?
How can I say that bioenergetic therapy is the best psychotherapy? I believe it. It’s that simple.
Obviously, I’m biased because I practice bioenergetic therapy. And if that bothers you, you probably don’t want to keep reading.
To be fair, I can admit that the best therapy is probably going to be the one that you will do. And any therapy with a qualified and competent psychotherapist is better than none.
That being said, if you want to impact your life with psychotherapy in the most dramatic and effective way you can, you’ll want to investigate bioenergetic therapy as the route to tackling your issue.
Here’s Why Bioenergetic Therapy is the Best Therapy
If you are a strong, competent, logical, hardworking, and reasonable person you don’t need someone to help you be strong, competent, logical, and reasonable. You need someone who can help you solve the mysterious, illogical and unreasonable situation you are in.
If you just sit on the couch, chatting with your therapist, you aren’t likely to get any better insight into your problem than you had before you arrived. Some of you might but most of you don’t need me or any other therapist for that.
To solve your issue, you need insight from your whole mind. And your whole mind is not just in your head. It’s embodied. Meaning, it is in your body. It includes your emotions. And that’s where your answers lie.
Unfortunately, along the way, most of you were taught to cut off the wisdom from your body. And that’s why you need bioenergetic therapy.
What is Bioenergetic Therapy Anyway?
Basically, bioenergetic therapy is a “body-based,” or “somatic” therapy. Which means that, unless you don’t want to, your body is going to be involved in solving your problem.
I only say, “unless you don’t want to,” because I’m never going to ask you to do something you don’t want to do. If you want to brainstorm or talk it out, I’m happy to do that with you. I just call it “supportive” psychotherapy, not bioenergetics.
Why Bioenergetic Therapy over any Other Body-based or Somatic Therapy?
You might wonder why I suggest bioenergetic therapy over any other body-based or somatic therapy. Here’s why.
Bioenergetic therapy is not restricted in scope by a limited number of techniques, the way some other body-based therapies are.
Bioenergetic therapy incorporates “direct” and “indirect” body-focused techniques. There are “hard” and “soft” techniques. The entire foundation of the therapy is mindfulness. And mindfulness is the basis of all self-improvement techniques in the world. But it doesn’t stop there.
Bioenergetic therapy allows practitioners to create new techniques and exercises that will work for you, the individual in front of them. There is no one-technique-fits-all approach with this therapy.
The goal in bioenergetic therapy is to quickly and safely help you resolve the problem you haven’t been able to solve on your own. Sometimes, quickly means 1 hour instead of 5, sometimes it means 6 months instead of 6 years and sometimes it can even mean 5 years instead of 10.
The bottom line is that when you bring the wisdom of your body into the therapy process, you will gain time in exchange for the courage of doing so.
