What is Well-Being?
In order to tell you the steps to well-being, we have to agree on what well-being is.
So, let’s say well-being is:
Feeling good in your body, and having a basically quiet and peaceful mind.
Why You Don’t Have a Sense of Well-Being
It’s actually really complicated, but for clarity, I’m going to say there are 2 main reasons you don’t have a sense of well-being.
1. When you do not breathe fully enough, your body doesn’t like it. It goes into a state of alarm. Commonly known as “fight or flight.”
When you live in a state of “fight or flight” long enough, your body starts to revolt and you stop feeling good in it. It aches, it’s tight, your digestion sucks. You feel like an uncomfortable bag of rocks.
2. When you have a head full of ideas about who and how you “should” be that you may or may not be aware of, you are going to talk trash to yourself all the time.
Your mind is going to spin all the time as it tries to find ways to pacify you from the pain of the self-hatred you feel.
4 Simple Steps
Given our definition, it’s stands to reason that if you want to have a sense of well-being, then you’re going to have to figure out how to feel good in your body and still your mind.
Luckily for you, there are 4 specific things you can do for that.
WARNING: These things are simple. But, they are not necessarily easy. And they are going to take work.
1. Bioenergetic Grounding Pose
2. Expansive Breathing
3. Pounding
4. Dan Siegel’s Wheel of Awareness
