2 Simple Self-Care Actions to Improve Your Day

“Old Way” (not) Self-Care

Ever wake up in the morning stiff and unready to face the day?

Achy joints? Feet that hurt the minute they hit the ground? An attitude that says, “no”?

Yeah, me too.

So, what do you do? Get some coffee and push yourself forward? Talk yourself into doing what you have to do?

It’s pretty brutal, right? And there’s nothing in it that particularly feels like self-care—unless you really make time to enjoy that coffee with intention.

There’s a Better Way—and it Involves a Simple Self-Care Step

I’ve got good news. There’s a simple thing you can do to change that feeling almost immediately.

  • A way to get your mind and body ready to face the day.
  • A way to make sure you don’t start stressing out while you brush your teeth.
  • A way to prime your source of strength and purpose.

#1 – It’s so simple you’re not going to believe it

Grounding pose, self-care
Grounding Pose

Set your timer for 3-5 minutes and stand in the Bioenergetic grounding pose before you do anything else.

Yep. Stand up, put your feet shoulder width apart and bend forward at the waist. Let your head and arms hang heavy. Put the weight of your body on the balls of your feet. And breathe.

Feel the strength of your legs as they charge up, and the tensions in your neck and shoulders start melting away.

Bend and straighten your legs to release any discomfort you feel while you’re standing. Exhale with heavy breath. Do not try to control the way you breathe by tensing ANY muscles in your lips or jaw.

That’s it.

#2 – Bonus Self Care Action Step to Use if You Want to Charge-Up

Once you’ve started your pilot light with the grounding pose, there’s one more step you can take to really get your burner going on HI if you want.

This next step might make your need for coffee obsolete.

Lay backward over a nice high stack of pillows on the floor, or a stability ball, and put your arms overhead.
Set your timer for 5 minutes.

Open your mouth. Relax your jaw and lips. And breathe. You can breathe intensely or gently, depending on how much energy and charge you want to bring to your body. It’s up to you.

When you’re done, come up slowly from your backward pose. From a standing position, bend forward at the waist and relax into the grounding pose again for a minute. Enjoy the benefits of the muscles stretching and increased oxygen your body has.

Proceed with your day. Enjoy the relaxation and energy these 2 simple self-care exercises provide you.
