Can I Be Happy?

Learn the secret to having lifelong happiness.

To answer the question, “can I be happy,” we have to first lay down a foundational definition of happiness, and then answer an important question.

First, the definition of happiness. According to Webster’s happiness is:

  • a state of well-being and contentment
  • a pleasurable or satisfying experience

For our purposes, we are going with the first definition rather than the second since a pleasurable or satisfying experience is a passing phenomenon. And when you ask, can I actually be happy, you are talking about something more permanent, aren’t you? You want to feel happy as a general rule, not as a passing experience.

True and lasting happiness is not dependent on circumstances. It is an internal experience of life. A state of well-being and contentment. You probably know it when you feel it, but how does it break down into parts? As I have shared in my book, Emotional Utopia, it breaks down into the following:

Having the peace of mind that comes with being able to acknowledge and accept all your feelings all the time. Having enough natural energy to get through the day. And having the ability to feel both the ups and downs of life without being overwhelmed or crushed by them.

Now, the important question.

ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE LASTING HAPPINESS YOUR #1 PRIORITY OVER ALL OTHER GOALS?

Because this is where the rubber meets the road. If you are not willing to make it your #1 goal, it will elude you forever. You are responsible and no one else is going to make it happen for you. Without committing the time and effort necessary to achieve the skills and brain re-patterning required to achieve lifelong happiness, you will not achieve lifelong happiness.

You MUST go through, as Seth Godin says, “The Dip.” But the reward is well worth the effort. I assure you.

If this sounds like a goal you’re after, give me a call. We’ll talk about how you can start down the path to lifelong happiness.

p.s. If you want to know more about the process of gaining lifelong happiness before you call, visit EmotionalUtopia.com and grab a free copy of the introduction to my book Emotional Utopia: Stop Searching For Happiness And Start Living It.
